All of your, and everybody else’s, favourites are here and superbly read this has got to be the starter for anyone wishing to build a library of spoken Poetry. These are two discs that you can listen to over and over again. They soon become the standard by which you judge other readings. Derived from the book of the same name the forty-five poems on this disk are the ones we all know or think we know. It is a real pleasure to hear them expertly read. In the book a long section of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner was omitted however I am pleased to say that this was not the case on the CD. It is here in full, as are the other poems.

David Francis
David Francis reads his own poems and leads the small ensemble that plays his own compositions, which complement the poems.
David’s work is broadcast on American radio stations and he was heard live on air whilst touring the UK in 2006. To my ear, this is a delightful CD and one I shall play often. The music complements the short poems nicely and makes for pleasant listening. However, much more than that, the ideas and emotions expressed within the poetry give one pause for thought. A thought that stays with you allowing time for reflection and meditation.
